Guess what?! :D

Nope...it isn't chicken butt. I finished Kirby!!!

*kermit flail*

Kirby Plush Complete

Isn't he cute? He's as huggable as he looks.

He even has a tag which according to Captain (my sister) makes him "legit". :P

Kirby's Tag

His tag is thanks to Miss Label. They are very affordable and quick to respond. I got them faster than I thought as well. It's located on his left "butt" cheek.

One more photo with me so you can get an idea of just how big he is. Sorry about all my ugly, hopefully Kirby's cuteness can overpower me.

Me and Kirby

I used Seremere's Kirby Plush Tutorial, but well...it should be rather obvious I didn't follow it completely. Especially in materials. He's aaaalll fleece...and a looooooooooooot of thread and stuffing. I also took a lot of liberties while putting him together. Making Kirby was certainly a learning process and if you look at him closely enough you can see which part I sewed first. It's part of his flaws, but I guess I'll just say it makes him unique. When I do things that have a tutorial I never seem to be able to duplicate the results. I just hope the person I'm giving him to loves him. Problem is her favorite is really Meta Knight, but I am NOT going to drive myself crazy trying to make him when my next project already looks like a puzzle from hell. It's also my first attempt to make something without a pattern or tutorial, but dammit I'm going to do it if it kills me...which it just might. D: I will admit that making these feels a bit therapeutic for me. It's nice to watch things on my laptop and lovingly sew together each piece by hand and somehow they come together to make things like Nny and Kirby.

Doodles #1

Before we continue with today's post...

Amanda Benavides's Pokedex - Anything-Goes Pokedex

I am the awesomest Pokemon. *nods*

Now for something completely different...a sketch/doodle post! Woooo! I am so tempted to use a bunch of reaction gifs, but I will restrain myself for you guys. It took me a while to work up the courage to post some doodles simply because I usually wuss out at the last possible moment because I'm shy about the things I draw. I'm still debating on whether or not to post my original characters on this blog, but it's a bit too public for my brainchildren and I am paranoid about people stealing my drawings as it is...which explains my love of watermarks which you'll see. Let's begin shall we?

Sailor Nicole & Princess Sally Moon

This is quite possibly the oldest one I'll post today, mostly because it's in pen which means it's in my small notebook. I had been watching Sailor Moon I think and remembered the infamous Super Special and started thinking of who would be the other scouts again and now that the comic is a bit further along than it was then I thought Nicole would make the perfect Sailor Mercury (She's holding "herself" as a replacement for the lil' computer Mercury uses). I love the Princess dress so I wanted to draw Sally in it.

Sally Moon School Outfit

This was drawn in my larger notebook which I've been drawing in pencil in. Normally I doodle in pen, but it didn't feel right for this notebook. *shrug* I'm weird, this shouldn't be news to anyone. My mind wandered into Sally Moon thoughts again and I ended up drawing her in Usagi's school outfit. I have a tiny problem with Sally being considered Usagi because it's VERY out of character for her. The Super Special was vague with how closely they were parodying Sailor Moon so it's open for debate. They also didn't add Usagi's meatballs to Sally which just never seemed right to me...so I draw her with them. This is a cute one, I still think I may finish it up and try to add some bells and whistles in Photoshop.

The Bride

This one is actually older than Sally just above. I have been wanting to do a tribute to different things from the Disney Parks. Rides long gone and forgotten and even ride elements like this one. This is The Bride, the one in the parks now (Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris doesn't count) is known as Constance/The Black Widow Bride/Bride2.0. After seeing Constance I wanted to smack whoever thought she was a good idea upside the head...hard. I remember the original bride well because the Attic area used to creep the hell out of me because you could hear her heart beating as soon as you enter it (the pop-up heads back then were also a lot better at scaring the bejeezus out of me...I actually kind of miss being startled by them, they're much tamer now). She's had many revamps, but I basically mixed and matched a few of the original Brides because for whatever reason people took very few pictures of her...trust me, if you do a search now you'll get nearly nothing, but Constance. Doombuggies is the best source for all things Haunted Mansion and its Bride. Go ahead and click the link and it'll take you to a page with nearly all of the Brides that have haunted the mansion's attic. <3 I already have a Photoshop file set up for this one.

Curaré

Last one and the last thing I've sketch/doodled. I've been watching Batman Beyond again (among other things like Outlaw Star <3) and remembered how awesome I thought Curaré was and still is. I needed to try drawing her myself and well...this is what happened. While I drew this one I got the idea to draw her standing in a field filled with the flowers/plant she's named after, but yes, this one is nice too. Batman Beyond needs more love and fanart.

I hope you've enjoyed my seemingly endless details on these silly doodles. This isn't the only doodle post I would like to do. I honestly haven't been posting anything to DeviantArt because I haven't felt like I've done anything worthy of posting. Hopefully all of you lovely people that read my blog like them a little bit. I promise I'll post something nice that's not a doodle someday. Ja ne! <3

Headdesk

BAMBAMBAMBAM...

That...that gif up there...that is how I feel right now, not just because I have another migraine. I'm even thinking about venting in one my Livejournals. *siiiiigh* Mac is also smashing his head into the desk in time with the beat of the song that's on my iTunes as I type this. I am so glad it's Friday! My plush making has been put on hold, hopefully, until Sunday. Not that I haven't tried to find a solution that didn't require another trip into the Fashion District, but I am going on a fleece shopping spree if I do in fact get to go. I hope to have every color of the rainbow and then some before I leave no matter how much it costs. I don't want to have this problem when I start on the other things I want to make. Everything I find in my area, or online, is waaaay too much money and not as good. What I get around here keeps shredding as I sew it on and me and my anal ways don't approve. In the meantime I'm preparing for my next project and the more I work on it the more I realize just how much work I have in store for me. I better get started on it soon if I want it done before Christmas. D: I'm thinking of having labels made to sew into the things I make. *giggle* Another song on my iTunes that Mac's headdesking fits perfectly to. I feel like I should update on how my birthday went, but that would probably end up being like a novel and it would also be nice if I could edit all the photos I took to add along with it. Perhaps next blog. I will mention that my sexy geek (boyfriend) bought me a Nintendo DSi for my birthday plus Pokemon: Soul Silver. I got myself Shantae: Risky's Revenge for it because I simply could not resist after still being a fan of the original Shantae all these years. I'm hoping to grab Animal Crossing eventually because that game is like crack to me even though I have never owned a system to play it on until now. It might actually be a good thing that I don't own it because heaven knows I can and will waste my life playing it. I also have Flipnote Studio and have been making horrible cutesy animations. I've added a "gadget" to my blog for everyone to see them. It should be there to your right just above the "About Me" section. Enjoy and now it's time for me to head home.

What have I done?!!!!

I made myself a Tumblr account... http://sonikkukitten.tumblr.com/

D:

In other news...I'm already starting on my second plush and this one, I'm hoping, will end up as a Christmas gift. I was lucky enough to have a trip down into the Fashion District on Sunday to hunt for softer material for a plush. Fleece (I'm pretty sure that's what I bought) was the best and most plentiful/varied material we found. I was hoping to find that really soft material that they use for plushies these days, but yeah...no. I doubt it would have been as good a price as the fleece was. We also learned that clothes are much, much cheaper there too. Ross ain't got nothin' on LA's rock bottom prices. :P Nny is complete and already with his new plushie family in my sister's room.

Nny complete!

My sister had wanted to bring him with us to Magic Mountain last Saturday, but with how anal Six Flags has gotten with their no loose articles on rides policy I convinced her he was safer at home. Funnily enough I had found the perfect solution to my loose articles by pulling my purse strap through my belt holes. Genius, I know. Then on every line we went into where we have been hounded about loose articles they either didn't notice or they no longer care about my "loose articles". >:[ Now, October at Magic Mountain means Fright Fest and for my sister and I that means sexy Heckles and Twitch action. To say we were looking forward to it after having missed it completely last year was an understatement. It's almost a ritual to go for my birthday at least. Colossus backwards didn't fail us, but we noticed the overabundance of "youth" in our favorite park. Past experience has taught us that during Fright Fest people don't start coming until sunset which meant short lines for us during the day and then freedom to ogle clowns all night while the lines were packed. Not this year. Got in three coasters...I would've gone on Log Jammer too, but I couldn't (didn't want to anyway).

The Mad Clowns

The official start of City Under Siege

Then as we huddled in front of the stage set up at the entrance to Gotham we finally got to see our favorite clowns. Twitch even donned his dancing panties and busted out Plan T. <3 Captain completely fangirled and then after their speech and rules they set the clowns loose and we went into Gotham to enjoy the screaming, but after scouring the Gotham City Backlot our favorite clowns were no where in sight, not to mention a lot of the costumed people that had crowded around the stage were missing. We recognized clowns from previous years, but where were their ringleaders? What truly ruined the experience was all the idiots completely ignoring the rules and shoving clowns and just making complete jackasses of themselves. We gave up and went to ride Colossus backwards again and wait to catch the next show. The halftime show although funny wasn't making up for our building disappointment. Once again Heckles and Twitch disappeared into the fog and there was still a serious lack of clowns and screaming. We found a perch to watch the clowns work their magic, but it wasn't enough and some of them weren't even trying. I finally found an event staff and asked where Heckles and Twitch were and she told me that they basically don't hang around in Gotham anymore and sometimes roamed to the other "scare zones". We were officially sad pandas and decided to visit the other scare zones to see what they were like even with the knowledge that none of us brought a change a pants in the event that they succeeded in their purpose in any of the scare zones. At the camp set up they definitely surprised us, though I think I angered one of them with my cheery hello when he popped up behind us with his hoarse "Hiiiii!". Location, location, location. The scare zones were in great areas for people to truly sneak up on you and Samurai Summit had some cute ones. I'm well aware that people dressed up as zombies shouldn't be considered cute, but...they just are okay! We can see through the blood, the painted on sunken cheek bones and prosthetics. We even found one of the people that had been down by the stage for the opening speech Heckles and Twitch gave. Our scare zone tourism done we passed by Superman to head back for the last show of the night and found Superman: The Escape completely blocked off with a sign saying they'll be re-opening in 2011. We cheered and hoped that the rumors for the Bizarro add on would come true. That ride was overdue for a complete overhaul. The cars weren't going as high on the tower as they did when my dad would bring me during those summer vacations so long ago. We found a spot by the stage, but the "youth" ruined that too. Some snot noses decided to shove and climb the railing keeping us from the stage. I hoped the clowns would make them poop their pull-ups. >:C The final show was more dissapointment, but the kids totally pooped their pull-ups when the clowns started their final scares for the night. I should mention, that Captain adores the music they play when Heckles and Twitch tell the clowns to "Get 'em!" and so after every show we would ask about it and well...the one guy we got to talk to us made us promises he never intended to keep it seems. Sad and disillusioned we headed for the exit only to encounter more "youth". Ugh...it's not so much the kids that I minded it was the teenagers. It also further proved that my birthday is going to suck. *sigh*

Bonus! Guess who I'm making...it should be rather obvious.

Inflatable Playground!

I had a birthday party to go to this Saturday and to mine and my sister's surprise it was at a place called Pump It Up! which was basically an inflatable playground. Bounce houses and obstacle courses galore and anyone who knows me, knows I don't pass up an opportunity to get into a bounce house and a three year old's birthday party is no exception. What made this time even better was the fact that the parents were getting into the inflatable fun. To see my dad racing other dads through an obstacle course is an awesome thing I'm sure myself and the other young people there will never forget. I genuinely pooped myself out and climbed the tallest slide just to sit at the top and cool down while I watched everyone below pelt each other with beach balls.

C:

In other news on Sunday I finally built up the courage to try and make my own plush and while still not complete because I'm missing stuffing to stuff him with I don't think I did too bad for my first try.

Nny front

Nny back

My sister has fallen in love with him and between her and I we've named him Nny (After Johnny the Homicidal Maniac because my sister said he looked like something Jhonen Vasquez would draw) and she can't wait for me to finish him. I had to modify the pattern I used a bit because felt is much stiffer than what they suggested. I'd like to work with something softer next time because I'm hoping to make plushes as Christmas gifts, but that also means I need to get started. D: I need a nice long trip to Michael's.

Auuugh Webroot...also, first post!!!

Feel free to mentally hear the "Auuugh!" in my title like the familiar Charlie Brown scream of dismay. Webroot has been running for nearly four hours since I upgraded it. Faster computer scanning time my arse. >:C I don't run Webroot often, but when I do I always remember exactly why I don't, although I realize how important virus protection is. This isn't what I had intended to start off my first post with, but since I stepped into the office and turned on Fuju (my Fujitsu laptop) it has been a thorn in my side. I suppose it's a fitting way to start off a blog named Geeky Tangents (with a tangent! Ho, ho! You see what I did thar?!). Now that that's out of the way, welcome to my blog you lucky people you! Thank you for stopping by and giving my thoughts a read. I suppose I should type about what I intend this blog to be about, but I refuse to decide on a specific/exclusive topic. I'll just be emptying out my over-cluttered thoughts here and share some doodles I just don't feel like updating into my galleries, but want to share somewhere. I'll discuss my thoughts on video games, cartoons, movies and theme parks. Now...on to something I've been wanting to type about this week.

I have been a huuuuge fan of the Disney parks since before I can remember. My family will vouch for the fact that I am a living park map for both Disney Land and Disney World. I've seen them make changes around the parks for better or for worse. The latest publicized change is the refurbishment of the Star Tours ride. Unlike Small World's changes(believe me you people don't want to see me go off on a tangent about that one), what I had read about seemed like a good idea. They intend to provide guests with more location scenarios, before it was just The Endor Moons location. I adored the original ride as it was and I understand the need to refresh it a bit, but I am a bit sad after finding this...

It's not just that I wasn't there to share oxygen with the awesomeness that is Mark Hamill AND Seth Green, *fangirl sobs* I realized something they had not elaborated on in all the posts I ran into. There will be no more Endor Moons scenario at all! I was okay with the adding, but had not expected them to take away as well. But, but...that means no more adorable first time flight robotic pilot, Rex. I loved that little animatronic. >;^;< I'm none too thrilled with his replacements either. *sigh* I'm not a big Star Wars geek so I don't really have much else to rant about, but we'll see how everything turns out. Hopefully it's better than a lot of their ride changes have been lately, which I could fill up several more posts with, but I'll save them for another day perhaps.
